I wanted to do something to help support my family because I hate that all the weight falls on my husband's shoulders. That's why I joined the Pampered Chef.
A lot of people are really successful with Pampered Chef and make quite a bit of money so it seemed promising. I am not one of them. I thought it would be easy but it is not easy for me at all to book parties or make sales. I guess I'm just not a pushy enough person. I also think that it had a lot do with PC not being my passion. I like to cook but I don't LOVE to cook and as much as I wanted to help make money for my family (which was REALLY important to me) I just don't feel comfortable pestering people to buy things and book shows. If they say "No thanks", I drop it. I don't keep asking until I wear them down to the point that they agree just to make me leave them alone. That would completely irritate me so I don't do it to other people.
Some of you may know, and a lot of you probably don't, but I have been wanting to do something with photography for a really long time. I know it seems like everyone and their brother is a "photographer" but I've thought about this since before middle school and it never stopped being a dream of mine. I love taking and editing pictures but I never quite got the result I wanted with my little, inexpensive camera. I've wanted to buy a really nice more professional type of camera for a really long time but there was always something we needed more or my "mommy guilt" would kick in. (That's the feeling that I think a lot of moms can relate to. That sick, quilt they feel when even thinking for a second about spending money on something for themselves because there's things their family mgiht need more. Maybe that's just me being crazy but whatever. haha)
My amazingly supportive husband has been telling me to do something with my photography for a while now because he knows how much I love it. He has encouraged me to finally get my DSLR camera. He was even super sweet and put a pretend check made out to "Erin Gable Photography" in my birthday card and told me to follow my dreams.
Today Ry bought me my camera.
I hope I can make him proud and make back the money my camera cost and then some.
I need to build a portfolio so if anyone would like to have pictures taken, let me know because I know someone just starting out in the photography business who would probably give you a really low price... ;-)
